Please help me to help you!

Allow me to say a HUGE thank you to all of you that have been following my youtube channel and the blog right here. I am amazed by the number of you that are interested to hear more from me about how I am managing two autoimmune diseases.

In response to this I have put together a short video to tell you about a crowd funding initiative I have begun…

I never in a million years imagined I would ever share these images of myself with the world on youtube, let alone to everyone I know on Facebook. For the past 4 years I have been suffering with Alopecia Areata but this year it really reached it’s worst. I decided that instead of suffering alone I would share my experience on youtube and pledged to tackle this autoimmune disease with a paleo diet. I succeeded! All of my hair is growing back, and even better, I am controlling my symptoms of Crohn’s disease.

I was totally stunned at the response on youtube. The video now has over 122,000 views and I have 664 subscribers. Every day I receive messages asking for support and advice. I do the best that I can but without being a qualified therapist my help is limited.

Unfortunately due to a severely debilitating crohn’s flare this year (during which I escaped surgery by the skin of my teeth!) I had to quit working and focus on healing with this diet. With the help of naturopathic nutrition I am now very well and eager to help many other sufferers by becoming a Nutritional Therapist. However, since leaving my job and returning home to my parents I am in no position to pay for this tuition. Instead, with a nudge from some good friends I have been persuaded to crowd fund to pay for a diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition.

I hope that you can help me in some way with this fundraising, even if just to pass the message on to someone else who can.

Please share my page and video below:

Many thanks and love to all! x

  1. Hi, I am not sure if I have alopecia, I just found a few tiny bald spots on my head, it feels funny like very smooth. my husband had this a few years ago and went to the doctor and got his hair back, it never got bigger that a quarter. I am worry about dying my hair to cover my gray hair like I always do. Any suggestions? I will look into the AIP diet since I been having diarrhea lately , but still have to see an specialist to tell me what’s wrong. please let me know if you were like dying and straightening your hair and if it was ok.

    • Hi Angie,
I haven’t dyed my hair ever since I discovered a spot 5 years ago and even before then I didn’t dye it very often. I blow dry my hair frequently and I occasionally straighten it but I cannot say this makes a huge impact on hair loss. The truth is that Alopecia Areata (which is a specific type of hair loss) is not caused by a topical skin condition but instead is a symptom of an immune problem. This is why the only treatment is diet, relaxation and positivity – it has to be treated from the inside to fix the root cause. Having said that, if your scalp is feeling very sensitive while you’re experiencing the hair loss and you have any red spots or sore areas then I don’t recommend that you dye your hair until it clears up. Best wishes xx

  2. Hi am suffering with the same condition as yourself and have the same bald patches like you. Can you recommend a shampoo which helps ?
    Thank you.

    • Hi Melanie,
There is no shampoo that will treat alopecia areata. I only achieved this with a change of diet as described here on my blog. I have recently changed my shampoo to one free of Parabens, SLS or Phthalates. ‘Jason’ is a good brand for this and I am currently using the brand ‘Urtekram’ organic lavender shampoo but please believe that only diet will treat your hair loss. xx

  3. Hi there,

I have seen your YouTube video on alpocio areata. I have been suffering from alpocio areata for 2 years and I have tried everything that anyone has told me but nothing seems to work. I feel very depressed that I am loosing all my hair. I have started wearing head scarf because it’s affecting my daily life. After watching your YouTube video I have some hope that you can help me with my hair loss. Can you please tell me how I can get my hair back. I am really hoping that you can help me. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
